Teresa Riveiro Böhm Conductor

Former Leverhulme Conducting Fellow, Teresa Riveiro Böhm, leads the final RCS Symphony Orchestra concert of the academic year.

The concert opens with Scottish composer Thea Musgrave’s Festival Overture, written in dedication to Alexander Gibson, who conducted the first performance with the Scottish National Orchestra in 1965.

This is followed by the stirring Sinfonia da Requiem, Britten’s largest orchestral work for the concert hall. Finally, our students round out the evening with Shostakovich’s enigmatic final symphony, a work that moves between brooding darkness and comic brilliance, quoting Rossini and Wagner along the way.
