‘i carry you with me as we both slip back into the dark’ explores a different way of collaborating with, learning from, and relating to the presence of the more-than-human. inspired by an encounter with a crow during its last hours on this earth, the work attempts to honour other beings and disrupt ideas of human superiority and the human / animal binary. the piece asks how might we move away from an anthropocentric way of living on and viewing the earth, and instead move towards a more equitable way of caring for and co-existing with other species.

laurie elliott (they/them) is an artist who works with the mediums of performance and film. within their work they are interested in drawing attention to the significance of all things. their work involves explorations of time, connection, tenderness, presence, and absence. their work is often ecological in nature, looking to the natural world for inspiration. they are often thinking about the perceived divisions between human and animal, interspecies relations, and our relationship to the earth.
