The Lark Trio won first prize in the prestigious Cavatina Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition (2024) at the Wigmore Hall. They have a passion for unearthing the hidden treasures of the piano trio repertoire, with a focus on living composers and female composers.

This afternoon the trio explores the colour spectrum, finding inspiration in piano trios by Jennifer Higdon, a contemporary American composer, and Felix Mendelssohn, a well-known composer who also happened to be a talented painter.

Scottish artist Orla Stevens joins the trio virtually and explores the same music through her painting. Her process will be projected during the performance to bring another dimension to the live journey made by the trio through the colours of Higdon’s “Pale Yellow,” “Fiery Red,” “Brilliant Blue,” and “Wondrous White.”

In this Friday’s at One, the Lark Piano Trio will create a memorable experience for audiences using contrast, blending, and improvisation, and will treat listeners to a well-loved classic by Mendelssohn alongside the highly-regarded and exciting work of Jennifer Higdon.
