In a world and industry supposedly post #metoo has the work been done? Are we as safe as we can be in our workspaces and training organisations?
Join Elaine from Persistent and Nasty for an open, honest and hopeful conversation. Speaking truth to power is a tricky dance but one that needs to be performed and especially in the arts industry where the fear of lack of opportunities if you speak out is pushed and encourages silence to keep the status-quo.
About the speaker:
Elaine is an actor, writer, facilitator, audio actor and podcaster. Elaine has worked across Scotland and was an ensemble member of acclaimed Theatre Co Poorboy for many years. Elaine is one of the Co-founders of Persistent and Nasty “a podcast series and creative activism initiative for women and other marginalised voices in the stage and screen industries. Persistent and Nasty is about changing the cultural narrative through the stories we tell.”
Although Elaine’s background is theatre, she has always had a passion for stories told in all mediums, particularly film. “Everyone should be able to see/hear themselves on stage, screen, or in art. It’s how we all know we’re connected and that everyone’s story is important. You matter”
Elaine also sits on Equity’s Women’s Committee as Chair and the Scottish National Committee as Vice-Chair.
