James McAvoy returns to RCS to meet Junior Conservatoire actors and filmmakers

A global Scottish star of stage and screen returned to his Royal Conservatoire of Scotland roots this week.
Award-winning Hollywood and West End actor James McAvoy – a Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate – spent Sunday afternoon with Junior Conservatoire acting and film students, including the actors who receive the James McAvoy Drama Scholarship.
James and the students discussed the entertainment industry with the actor sharing invaluable insights and advice in response to their questions.
James is committed to nurturing the creative potential of young people and in 2015, established the James McAvoy Drama Scholarship. The scholarship is for anyone aged 25 and under, and a Scottish resident, who wants to embark on a drama course through the RCS Short Courses department.
This programme aims to support applicants who would otherwise find meeting the cost of tuition fees a barrier to accessing pre-higher education drama training at the Royal Conservatoire.
Following his RCS visit, James set off for his In Conversation event at the Glasgow Film Theatre, hosted by Edith Bowman, where he was presented with the Cinema City Honorary Award that recognises filmmakers who have made an outstanding contribution to cinema.
