Spring Ballet Intensive

Overview

Join us for our Spring Ballet Intensives 2025!

This is an opportunity for students to study classical ballet, contemporary technique, jazz dance and repertoire, working with the RCS School of Dance faculty and professional guest teachers.

Classes will take place from Wednesday the 9th of April – Friday the 11th of April.

Pre-Junior (P4-P7), Junior Conservatoire (S1+) and Vocational level students will study from 10am – 3pm.

Please note spaces are LIMITED and reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we recommend booking ASAP to avoid disappointment. We are also pleased to be offering priority booking and a 10% Discount Code on all classes for our Junior Conservatoire students.  Please contact juniorsdance@rcs.ac.uk if you are a current Junior Conservatoire student to receive the discount code.

Who is this course for?

Any young person that has an interest in ballet and dance – particularly those interested in future vocational dance training.

Seniors/Vocational (S3+), Mids (S1 and S2), Pre-Juniors/Juniors (Primary 4 – Primary 7)

Course Outline

This is an opportunity for students to study classical ballet, contemporary technique, jazz dance and repertoire, working with the RCS Modern Ballet faculty and professional guest teachers.  Classes will take place at Wallace Studios and students will work with live musical accompaniment each day.

Vocational Level classes are for students who are interested in strengthening and further developing their skills in classical ballet technique, repertoire as well as jazz and contemporary dance. This course is designed for students who aspire to, or are currently in vocational dance training. The course is taught by staff who work in the RCS School of Dance, with additional expert guest teachers. Students will benefit from having the opportunity to creatively engage with the different styles taught by these specialists.  Senior students will have daily classical technique classes with pointework and virtuosity. Additionally, students will participate in classes in a range of supporting subjects, including contemporary dance, classical repertoire, solos, creative/choreography, jazz dance and conditioning. Classes will be accompanied by pianists/percussionists.

Junior Level classes are designed for students who enjoy dance and have a few years ballet experience. The course is taught by experienced School of Dance staff who work with our Juniors students, with additional guest teachers. Students will benefit from having the opportunity to creatively engage with the different styles taught by these specialists in their field of dance. The course is practical and aims to create an inspiring, challenging and supporting environment for young dancers to further develop their skills and talents.

By the end of the courses students should have:

  • Strengthened their classical ballet technique
  • Experienced a professional approach to practice
  • Participated in repertoire, creative, conditioning, jazz and contemporary sessions

Course Preparation

Students should come dressed in their usual ballet and dance attire, taking all ballet and dance shoes with them.  Participants should also bring refillable water bottles a well as lunch/snacks.
