Drama (ages 5-7) Early July

Summer School for Children and Young People

Overview

Be in your Element this Summer at the RCS!

This summer, we invite all young adventurers ages 5 to 7 to embark on a thrilling journey through the magical world of the Four Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water!

In this fun-filled Elemental program, children will explore each element through imaginative storytelling, engaging games, and expressive movement. They’ll discover how to embody the strength of the Earth, the freedom of the Air, the passion of Fire, and the fluidity of Water.

With a focus on creativity and teamwork, our young performers will build confidence and make lasting friendships while bringing their ideas to life on stage. Join

Your guides will be our experienced teaching artists who will offer the opportunity to combine acting, singing and dancing in a fun, stimulating environment.

Led by experienced teaching artists, the young people will use their own thoughts and ideas to create an original performance to share with friends and family at the end of the week.

The course will offer a fun, stimulating and challenging experience for all regardless of previous experience.

Throughout the course participants will:

  • Increase personal confidence and creative decision-making skills
  • Develop performance skills including voice and movement
  • Have the opportunity to try out their own ideas in a creative environment
  • Take part in a rehearsal process

Throughout the week, the young people will work towards a short informal performance for family and friends which takes place in one of the Royal Conservatoire’s venues on the last afternoon of the course.

Make sure you book your trip to join us in having an Elemental Summer!

Further Information

We want to ensure as many children, young people and adult learners as possible can access the performing and production arts education that is offered through Short Courses at RCS. Financial support options available for Short Courses include:

Agnes Allan Bursary

Agnes Allan was a teacher, passionate about inclusion, and this bursary scheme exists to offer support to students to participate in the performing or production arts.

The Agnes Allan Bursary provides some support to students who may require financial assistance to take part in a short course in dance, drama, music, production or screen.

Anyone who wishes to take part in our Short Courses and faces a financial barrier can apply for bursary support to help meet the cost of tuition fees.

James McAvoy Drama Scholarships

BAFTA-winning and Golden Globe nominated actor James McAvoy is committed to nurturing the creative potential of young Scots who experience barriers to access and participate in drama at RCS Short Courses.

James is a graduate of the BA Acting programme at RCS and Patron of the Junior Conservatoire of Drama. The Glasgow-born actor has funded the new James McAvoy Drama Scholarships to enable young people to experience the world-class drama training at RCS as he did.

The scholarship aims to support applicants who would otherwise find meeting the cost of tuition fees at RCS a barrier to accessing pre-Higher Education drama training at the Royal Conservatoire.

You can find more information about these funds on our Financial Support page.
