Rose Barford
Rose was born in Ireland and began her training at The Goode School of Dance. She was also a member of the Irish National Youth Ballet Company before moving to Glasgow to continue her training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time at the RCS and is extremely excited to be graduating with a Bachelor’s in Modern Ballet in July.
During her time on the course, Rose has enjoyed developing and strengthening her classical and contemporary technique, whilst being given the opportunity to explore her artistry and individuality as a dancer. She is extremely grateful for the wide variety of performance opportunities she has received over the three years and for the chance to work with a multitude of choreographers such as Constant Vigier, Madeline Squire and Daniel Davidson. She has enjoyed performing in a wide variety of venues, from the New Athenaeum theatre to the ballroom at the Gleneagles Hotel.
Rose has also benefitted hugely from the opportunities for collaboration that the Conservatoire offers, and has enjoyed creating works with film, composition, piano, opera and musical theatre students. She has also enjoyed developing her skills as a choreographer through various choreographic projects, such as the Piano and Dance performance and the annual choreography competition. Rose has acquired valuable skills through engaging in the role of class Student Representative for three years, and through her time as a member of the Student’s Union Council in her final year.
Rose is excited about what is to come in the next stage of her career and looks forward to putting the skills she has acquired during her training into practice. She would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff and students at the RCS for making her experience so well-rounded and fulfilling, and for allowing her to discover more about herself as a dancer and as a person.
