Olivia Hunter
Olivia was born in Scotland and started dancing at her local ballet school. She then progressed her training at Scottish Ballet Associates and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Juniors Programme and their Young Ballet Company before joining the BA Modern Ballet Degree.
Furthering her ballet training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the BA Modern Ballet course gave Olivia the opportunity to gain technical strength and unique performance experience which she will continue to do as she looks forward to graduation in July. She has greatly enjoyed her time over the three years she has spent training at RCS and has met fellow students who are now her closest friends.
During her time at RCS, Olivia has learned from and worked with multiple different choreographers including Constant Vigier, Madeleine Squire and Daniel Davidson. She has been very lucky to learn from such an amazing range of choreographers; the ambiguity of dance is something that she will always treasure because it highlights the importance of diversity within humanity.
She has also benefited from many other learning and performance opportunities including the DANSOX ‘Women-Made’ summer school at Oxford University focusing on the importance of female choreographers, the Piano and Dance Festival, performances at The Gleneagles Hotel and the BA Modern Ballet Degree show.
Alongside her Degree, Olivia has loved her work as a teaching assistant with the Scottish Ballet Junior Associates and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Pre-Juniors which she has found both rewarding and inspiring. She has been fortunate to work with the amazing teaching staff at RCS and Scottish Ballet Associates. These experiences have also allowed her to gain a strong sense of fulfilment by actively helping very young dancers in the early stages of their dance journey. She hugely appreciates the experiences she has gained which she will take with her into her future career. Olivia is extremely grateful towards all the wonderful staff, musicians and teachers who have made her time at RCS so special and unforgettable.
