Mercy Ojelade

Interim Associate Head of Acting

Mercy Ojelade is a professional actor with extensive experience touring nationally and internationally. In Scotland, Mercy has worked for the Traverse theatre, the Tron theatre, Perth Theatre, the National Theatre of Scotland and Vanishing Point. Beyond Scotland, Mercy has worked with Druid theatre in Ireland, Punchdrunk, the Globe Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Mercy holds a BSc in Social Sciences from the University of Bath, an MA in Actor Training and Coaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and an MRes in Drama and Theatre Arts from the University of Birmingham (thesis title: The UK Approach to Actor Training – Is it time for a new model?). Mercy has a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (Theatre and Performing Arts) from Rose Bruford College and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Teaching experience in the HE vocational-training sector includes: RCS, Rose Bruford College, LAMDA, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and Cours Florent in Paris.

Research and Teaching interests include New Writing and Accessible Actor Training (entry, content and delivery). Mercy is an Association Member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.
