Lorna Anderson

Lecturer, Vocal Performance

Lorna has taught in some form or other for more than 20 years, in schools, masterclasses, summer courses, and at the RWCMD for more than a decade before moving back to Scotland, and teaching at the RCS where it all began.

Lorna Anderson trained at the RCS, (then RSAMD,) and the RCM, gaining awards at both institutions. She has gone on to have a wide-ranging career in opera, concert and as a recitalist all over the world. She is probably best known as a singer of baroque repertoire, but her recital and concert programmes reflect her interest in music right up to the present day. Her recording catalogue features music from mediaeval Scotland, Haydn’s Austria, the impressionist delights of Fauré, Debussy and Ravel and a commission by James MacMillan.

Lorna continues to enjoy singing and her most recent performances include creating the role of ‘The Greyhound’ in her local community opera and a recital in Trinity College, Cambridge to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Lord Byron.
