Jamie Mackay

Head of Postgraduate Learning and Teaching Programmes and Academic Development

Jamie Mackay (SFHEA) is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art and joined the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (then RSAMD) as a freelance tutor in scenic art in 1995. Following attainment of the RCS Postgraduate Certificate and HEA Fellow status, Jamie secured the role of Lecturer in Design and Scenic Art from 2009.

In 2015, Jamie was appointed as the Head of Postgraduate Learning and Teaching Programmes and Academic Development and now leads the PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in the Arts and the MEd in Learning and Teaching in the Arts.

In 2015, Jamie was appointed as the Head of Postgraduate Learning and Teaching Programmes and Academic Development and now leads the PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in the Arts and the MEd in Learning and Teaching in the Arts. Jamie gained Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2020 and in addition to leading the postgraduate Learning and Teaching programmes, he module co-ordinates the ‘Teaching the Arts’ and ‘Final Project’ leading the delivery of these, both in the online environment and in hybrid sessions. Jamie is a member of the Quality and Standards Committee, Academic Board, Ethics Committee, Technology Enhanced Learning Forum and is the institutional lead on the QAA Enhancement Themes.

Jamie is currently studying a part-time PhD with RCS researching non-directive coaching, Self-Determined learning and artist development.
