About

Fraser Robinson is a baritone hailing from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. He is currently in his final year at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Scott Johnson and Andrew McTaggart.

At the opera school, Fraser will be singing the roles of Nanni in L’infedeltà delusa (Haydn) and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart). Fraser will also be singing the role of Masetto in Don Giovanni (Mozart) for Random Opera Company. Previous roles include David, A Hand of Bridge (Barber) at Waterperry Opera Festival, as well as covering the roles of Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascangi) and Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) for Edinburgh Studio Opera.

Outside of RCS, Fraser was an associate artist with Nevill Holt Opera, singing in the chorus for La Cenerentola (Rossini), as well as being a young artist at Waterperry Opera Festival, singing in the chorus of Carmen (Bizet) and singing in the baritone soloist in their young artist gala. Fraser has also recently sang at the Edinburgh International Festival opening ceremony, singing Pilatus and Pontifex 1 in the St. Matthew Passion, 1841 Leipzig arrangement.

Fraser’s studies have been generously supported by the Sybil Tutton Opera Award (Help Musicians), The Biddy Baxter and John Hosier Special Prize (Musicians Company), The Cross Trust, The Scottish International Education Trust, The McGlashan Trust, The Rose Trust, and The RCS Trust.
