About
Anna Marmion, soprano, is currently studying with Wilma MacDougall at the RCS Opera School in Glasgow. She holds an MMus (Distinction) from Trinity Laban, studying with Sarah Pring, and a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages from Durham University. She is a 2023 British Youth Opera Serena Fenwick Artist, was selected for the ROH Jette Parker Programme’s mentoring scheme for 2021-2022, and is supported by the RCS Trust, the International Opera Awards Bursary, and the Sybil Tutton Opera Awards.
Anna specialises in high coloratura repertoire. Operatic roles include Queen of the Night (Magic Flute), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), Fairy Godmother (Cendrillon), Gilda (Rigoletto – BYO role study), and Musetta (La Bohème). Anna also loves performing contemporary music: she originated the roles of Emily Brontë (Lisa Logan’s Brontë, Grimeborn Festival), Alice (Josh Kaye’s Outlier, Tête-à-Tête Festival), and sang Lena (Ana Sokolović’s Svadba, UK premiere).
On the concert stage, Anna has sung with the London Mozart Players, at the Two Moors Festival alongside Nicky Spence, and at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. She recently sang Strauss’ Brentano Lieder, Op.68 with the Cambridge University Graduate Orchestra, and was awarded third prize at the inaugural UK SongSlam, a competition for contemporary music.
