Andrew Nunn

Lecturer, Junior Conservatoire/Vocal Performance/Musical Theatre

Choral Director for Junior Conservatoire and Vocal Performance, Kodály Musicianship Lecturer for BA Musical Theatre and School of Music, Conducting Lecturer for Musical Theatre masters programmes.

Andrew is a choral director and conductor who graduated with distinction from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2014, having completed a BMus(Hons), MMus(Performance) and MMus(Conducting). A passionate advocate for the power of singing, in addition to his work at the RCS, Andrew is also the Artistic Director of the National Youth Choir of Northern Ireland and he is director of the Bearsden Choir, a 140 strong choir, recognised as one of Scotland’s most prestigious adult choirs. Andrew has also worked extensively for NYCOS, most notably conducting the choir at performances to mark the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele, broadcast on BBC 1 and 2. Andrew was also founder and director of Les Sirènes, a prestigious upper voice choir, which he led to victory in the 2012 BBC Choir of the Year competition.

Andrew currently works across a wide variety of departments and areas at the RCS. He is the director of choirs at the RCS Junior Conservatoire where he has developed a choral programme of five choirs, involving around 300 students each Saturday, age 8-18. The Junior Conservatoire Chamber Choir has regularly appeared on BBC TV broadcasts under Andrew’s direction. Andrew has also directed the RCS Choir for the Vocal Performance department since its launch in 2022. Andrew has a strong passion for Kodály musicianship and is a lecturer in this area for School of Music and the Musical Theatre department within the School of DDPF. Andrew also teaches conducting as part of the Musical Theatre masters programmes, teaching students on the MAMTD and PGDMTD courses.
