Janet Richardson
Janet became became piccolo tutor at RNCM in 2016 and has taught at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for almost twenty-six years and is regularly invited to teach at other Conservatoires throughout the UK.
Janet became Principal Piccolo with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in 1984, after studying at the University of Lancaster and Royal Northern College of Music with Trevor Wye and Pat Morris. Janet has also appeared on piccolo with most of the major orchestras in the UK including BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Philharmonia Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and on first flute with Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has also appeared as a soloist with the RSNO on both piccolo and flute.
