Fees & Funding

Tuition & Course Fees

Specific tuition fees and associated programme costs are listed on each of our degree pages. You can also find a full list of tuition fees and costs alongside information about how fee status is decided on our Tuition & Course Fees page

Funding Your Studies

Students from Scotland can apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for funding, which covers both tuition fees and living costs. For eligible undergraduate students from Scotland, SAAS will cover tuition fees free of charge. SAAS also offers maintenance loans for living costs, and loans for tuition and living costs for postgraduate studies.

If you’re not eligible for SAAS funding you might wish to consider an application to the Carnegie Trust, which aims to support Scottish students who do not receive government funding towards the costs of their tuition fees.

Students from the rest of the UK can apply to the relevant student finance body in their country for loans to help with tuition fees and living costs.

If you live in England, you can apply to Student Finance England

If you live in Wales, you can apply to Student Finance Wales

If you live in Northern Ireland, you can apply to Student Finance Northern Ireland

International students aren’t usually eligible to apply to UK funding bodies for tuition and living cost support. We have a non-exhaustive list of resources available made up of both student finance bodies that we know about in international countries, and external sources that may be able to provide scholarships to support your studies. However, we would strongly encourage applicants to conduct their own research into funding their studies.

International sources of funding & scholarships

We know that many students will attempt to seek funds from organisations outside the Conservatoire and the charitable trusts, companies and businesses that RCS is directly affiliated with (information about these can be found on our Scholarships page). We have collected some of the potential external funding opportunities for which you might be eligible to apply on the page below:

Scholarships

Each year, RCS disburses circa £1.5 million in scholarships to our incoming and continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students from Scotland, Rest of UK, the EU and internationally on the basis of merit and financial need.

RCS scholarships vary in amount from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds.

You can find out more about RCS Scholarships, as well as the other specific scholarship funds we offer in partnership with other organisations, on our Scholarships page
